U.S. IDENTITY PRESERVED VALUE CHAIN
Each step throughout the U.S. Identity Preserved process adds a benefit and creates greater value for each participant from grower to end user. This is known as the IP value chain. Each link in the chain maintains segregation of the product and ensures chain of custody, preserving critical attributes that are documented throughout the entire process. High levels of cooperation and collaboration along the value chain benefit all participants.
Planning
Contracted farmers acquire seeds specifically bred to provide desired attributes, such as size, color, composition, etc. This begins prior to the growing season.
Planting
Farmers test seeds, segregate lots and clean equipment to prevent seed mixtures and ensure the purity of the Identity Preserved crop is being planted.
Growing
Farmers manage crop inputs throughout the season to ensure purity and expected yield.
Harvest
Farmers clean equipment to ensure purity during harvest, and crops are stored in segregated bins both on the farm and at the processor/exporter to maintain purity through shipment.
Processing
Grains and seeds are tested upon delivery, then cleaned and sorted to meet the buyers’ desired contract specifications.
Packaging
Grains and seeds are packaged as needed for the buyers, typically in bags or totes, and are tested again prior to shipping.
Transportation
Bags and/or totes are loaded into shipping containers, and containers are sealed for shipping, unopened until they reach their destination.
